Essential literacies refer to key areas of knowledge and skills that individuals need to navigate and succeed in today’s world effectively. Our literacy programme is geared towards women in Africa, helping them meet the most basic literacy requirements of today’s world. We offer the following literacy assistance:
Reading Literacy
The ability to read and comprehend written text. This is the foundation for acquiring knowledge, understanding instructions, and engaging with the world around us.
Writing Literacy
The ability to express thoughts, ideas, and information clearly in written form. This includes grammar, spelling, and the ability to structure writing for different purposes.
Numeracy
The ability to understand and work with numbers, including basic arithmetic, measurements, and data interpretation. It’s essential for daily tasks like budgeting and problem-solving.
Digital Literacy
The ability to use digital tools and platforms effectively, understanding how to navigate the internet, use software, and stay safe online.
Financial Literacy
Understanding financial concepts such as budgeting, saving, investing, and managing credit, enabling informed financial decisions.
Media Literacy
The ability to critically analyse media messages, understand media’s influence, and create responsible media content.
Health Literacy
The ability to obtain, understand, and use health information to make informed decisions about personal health and healthcare.
Civic Literacy
